June 2015 Newsletter

. . . about Town

With Mayor Bob

June is highlighted this year as “Pool Month” and Decatur Revenue Office at City Hall.

Decatur opened its pool on June 1st with FREE swim day and 2015 looks like an awesome year for the pool!

We are open Monday – Friday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Attendance has been strong everyday so far this summer and we expect this trend to continue all summer.

Changes made this year are we are open longer hours and closed Saturday and Sunday. The pool is in great operational condition with new renovation planned along with new paint on the pool scheduled next year. If you haven’t been to the pool in a few years, please go visit soon.

Prices are $2 per visit and you can purchase a pool pass for this year at $50.00. Pool parties are available and you can get more details by calling City Hall at 479-752-3912.

We want to talk about Arkansas Revenue Department this month too.   The Revenue Office is OPEN every Wednesday at Decatur City Hall from 8-4 and closed 12-1 p.m. for lunch. You can do all of your transactions at Decatur City Hall on this day. They do not do assessments so please complete this online or by visiting any of the other offices in the county.

I really want to encourage you to use this benefit in our town and save your time, the lines are never long!

Your City Council in conjunction with City Staff is working on many projects. Some things that are being worked on presently: Farmers Market and Community Garden; additional play ground equipment at Royce Johnson Memorial Park has been ordered; our grant application has been submitted for additional sidewalks to be built from Highway 102 at the middle school entrance east to Bredehoeft Road then south to Stadium Street then west on Stadium Street to the high school; sidewalk from Rooster Street to Stadium Street will be built also. We are applying for a grant to build a large walking trail around Veteran’s Park and through a Blue and You grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield; Grant money is being applied for to continue work on a personnel elevator for City Hall to make the 2nd floor functional; New Soccer Field for the youth program and many more!

Your Decatur Chamber of Commerce is in full swing making plans for our annual Decatur BBQ.
