Highway 59 and Highway 72 Corridor Study

8/18/2023

The Arkansas Department of Transportation is conducting a study of the Highway 59 and Highway 72 corridors in Benton County. These corridors have experienced a significant amount of growth in recent years, and this study will provide information to see if improvements are needed to satisfy the new demands that growth has put on the traffic. The study will consider Highwy 59 from Siloam Springs to the Missouri State Line and Highway 72 between Highwy 59 in Central Gravette and Interstate 49.

In recent years much of the growth in Northwest Arkansas has shifted towards Western Benton County. This study is needed to ensure that the transportation network will satisfy future traffic demands. The corridors will be examined from a safety, congestion, and connectivity standpoint while also considering the region's economic and quality of life needs. Both current and long-term future needs will be considered.

There will be two public involvement meetings wil be held to kick off the study. The first meeting will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Gravette High School (Commons Area), 325 Lion Drive S., Gravette, AR 72736 and the second will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Gentry Public Library (McKee Community Room) 105 East Main Street, Gentry, AR 72734. (Both Meetings will be identical in content.)

Comment form availability will begin August 28, 2023 and ends at 11:59 pm on October 2,  2023. If you would like to watch for more information with the study information, you can visit the ardot website at https://www.ardot.gov/events-feed/?_sft_category=benton-county&sf_paged=2.
