Next Open Date for the Revenue Office

Begins: 4/24/2024 - 8 am
Ends: 4/24/2024 - 4 pm

The City of Decatur has a revenue office that you can renew or get your State issued ID, get a new driver's license, renew a driver's license, change over to a new enhanced driver's license (with proof of residencey and a birth certificate), pay sales tax on a newly purchased vehicle, and get the tag for it; renew tags for vehicles, boats, and even if you need a CDL, they issue those as well. 

You will need to be sure to assess any personal property you have with the county you live in before tagging. The closest assessor to Decatur is in Gravette Arkansas, or you can go to the one in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. However, you can do somethings by phone or online. The phone number to the Benton County Assessor is 479-271-1033 ( for personal property) 479-271-1037(for Real Estate), or you can go to this link: Benton County.

 

2024 Spring Tree Give Away

Ends: 5/4/2024 - Until All Trees Are Gone

The City of Decatur is hosting its 8th consecutive tree giveaway on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The goal of the giveaway is to increase the city's overall tree canopy on the residential property (commercial property is not eligible for this program), promote a healthier environment, and improve the physical appearance and visual character of the built environment.

Approximately 110 trees are available to Decatur residents. It is a first come first serve event. The limit is 2 trees per household. To receive a tree, you will need to bring a water bill with you to prove that you are a resident of Decatur Water System.

The trees that will be available are:

The White Flowering Dogwood (Cornus Florida)

The American Beech (Fagus Grandiflora)

The Blackgum (Nyssa Sylvatica)

The Sourwood (Oxydendrum Arboreum)

City Council Meeting

Begins: 5/13/2024 - 6 p.m.
Ends: 5/13/2024 - 8:30 p.m.

The Council Meeting for February has been Changed to February 13, 2024 at 6 pm in the council chambers. The City of Decatur, Arkansas City Council meetings are always held the second Monday of each month unless otherwise posted. This year those dates will be as follows:

All citizens have the right to bring a concern or compliment to council and are given 5 minutes to speak about their concern to the council at the appointed time. However, the council does not have to act on the concern at the time it is presented. 

City Wide Spring Cleanup for Citizens on the Decatur Water System

Ends: 5/18/2024 - 12:00 pm

The City of Decatur, Arkansas is holding a City Wide Cleanup on Saturday, May 18, 2024 for the citizens of Decatur Water System. Waste Management will no longer be picking the items up at curbside. Instead there will be dumpsters located at the south end of City Hall, 310 Maple Avenue, Decatur, AR 72722 from 8 am to noon. Please bring your water bill with you to prove you are a citizen on the Decatur Water System.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: FURNITURE, MATTRESSES/BOX SPRINGS, NON-FREON CONTAINING APPLIANCES, TOYS, BICYCLES (WITHOUT TIRES), PUSH/SELF PROPELLED LAWN MOWERS (NO OIL/GAS AND TIRES MUST BE REMOVED), CLOTHES, METAL (SORT THE LENGTHS), GLASS ITEMS (NO BROKEN GLASS), CARPET (CUT, ROLLED INTO 4 FT LENGTHS), AND METAL FENCING.

All acceptable items must be small enough for two people to handle. For example, a swing set must be broken down into individual pieces and concrete removed from legs.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: ITEMS OVER 75LBS, NO LUMBER, NO AUTOMOBILE PARTS, NO APPLIANCES WITH FREON, NO MICROWAVES, NO CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS (BRICKS, CONCRETE, DIRT, BLOCKS), NO GUNS OR AMMUNITIONS, NO LIQUID, NO TIRES (EVEN LAWN MOWER TIRES) NO LEAD PAINT (EVEN DRY, NO LEAD-BASED PAINT AT ALL), NO RAILROAD TIES, NO BATTERIES, NO ANIMAL CARCASSES, NO TELEVISIONS OR ANY ELECTRONICS AT ALL, NO PESTICIDES.

 

City Hall Closed for Memorial Day

The City Office of Decatur, Arkansas will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024 in honor of Memorial Day. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
