Calendar of Events
No matter what the season, there is always something going on in the City of Decatur. Keeping our residents informed of scheduled events and local happenings is important.
Do you have an upcoming event that you would like to add to our calendar? If so, send us an email and we will be happy to add it. When emailing us be sure to include who is hosting the event, where the event is happening (name and address of location), days and time of the event, and a little detail as to what the event is all about.
We do not do ads for yardsales or garage sales. However, we will advertise the Pickin' Time on 59, which is an event that is for the corridor of Highwy 59. We also do not advertise fund raising events unless it is open to the community and is hosted by an organization or non-profit.

Summer Bilingual Reading Program
Begins: 6/18/2024 - 3:00 PM
Ends: 7/30/2024 - 4:00 PM
The Summer Bilingual Reading Program will start on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 3 pm to 4 pm and will be held every Tuesday through the end or July. It will be held at the Iva Jane Peek Public Library located at 121 N. Main St., Decatur, AR 72722. Come join in the fun of reading!!!
Decatur Public Pool
Begins: 7/1/2024 - 12 pm
Ends: 8/10/2024 - 6 Pm
The last day for the pool to be open is Saturday, August 10th.
The Decatur Public Pool opened up to the public on June 4th for the 2024 season.

The Decatur Public Pool hours are Monday through Saturday 12 pm through 6 pm.
If you are interested in having a pool party, call city hall at 479-752-3912 to make arrangements.
Decatur Depot Museum Opening
Begins: 7/1/2024 - 10 am
Ends: 9/28/2024 - 2 pm
The Decatur Depot Museum will be opening for the 2024 season on May 4th from 10 am to 2 pm. It will open every Saturday there after until the last Saturday in September which is September 28, 2024.
July Dates: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
August Dates: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
September Dates: 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th
Summer Reading Program
Begins: 7/12/2024 - 10 am
Ends: 8/2/2024 - 12:30 pm
The Iva Jane Peek Public Library will be hosting their Summer Reading Program every Friday starting July 12th and ending on August 2nd. The start time is 10 am and will end at 12:30 pm. Each Friday will have a different adventure to go on:
July 12th will be about bugs and their adventures
July 19th will be about bones and minerals and the people who go on adventures to find them!
July 26th will be about fantasy, adventure and dungeons and dragons!
August 2nd will be about going on an adventure in your library!
There will be books, activities, snacks and more, so come on and join the adventure that begins at your library!
Teen Summer Program

Hey all you teens out there in the community, we want to invite you to an adventure at your library! It will be every Friday starting July 12th and ending on August 2nd from 6 pm to 8 pm. This is not no ordinary adventure, this is a D&D adventure. There will be graphic novels, book recommendations, food, and games, so come join us on this mysterious adventure at the Iva Jane Peek Public Library, 121 N. Main St., Decatur, AR 72722
Next Open Date for the Revenue Office
Begins: 8/7/2024 - 8 am
Ends: 8/7/2024 - 4 pm
The City of Decatur has a revenue office that you can renew or get your State issued ID, get a new driver's license, renew a driver's license, change over to a new enhanced driver's license (with proof of residencey and a birth certificate), pay sales tax on a newly purchased vehicle, and get the tag for it; renew tags for vehicles, boats, and even if you need a CDL, they issue those as well.
You will need to be sure to assess any personal property you have with the county you live in before tagging. The closest assessor to Decatur is in Gravette Arkansas, or you can go to the one in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. However, you can do somethings by phone or online. The phone number to the Benton County Assessor is 479-271-1033 ( for personal property) 479-271-1037(for Real Estate), or you can go to this link: Benton County.
Pool Party-Pathways to Progress
Begins: 8/8/2024 - 6 p.m.
Ends: 8/8/2024 - 8 p.m.
Pathways to Progress is hosting a Food Drive Pool Party. It will be held at the Decatur Public Pool on August 8th from 6 pm to 8 pm. All you need to do is bring a non-perishable food item to get in. The address to the pool is 408 Pool St., Decatur, AR 72722
City Council Meeting
Begins: 8/19/2024 - 6 p.m.
Ends: 8/19/2024 - 8:30 p.m.
The City of Decatur, Arkansas City Council meetings are always held the second Monday of each month unless otherwise posted. This year those dates will be as follows:
August 19, 2024 6:00 PM(3rd Monday) September 09, 2024 6:00 PM October 14, 2024 6:00 PM
November (TBD Due to Veteran's Day) December 09, 2024 6:00 PM
All citizens have the right to bring a concern or compliment to council and are given 5 minutes to speak about their concern to the council at the appointed time. However, the council does not have to act on the concern at the time it is presented.
